Edgar Clayton “Clay” Whitaker, Jr., of Garner, passed away January 25, 2010. He was born April 9, 1952 to the late Edgar Clayton and Hazel Rogers Whitaker. A funeral service was held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Garner. The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. January 29, 2010 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. Interment followed at Montlawn Memorial Park. Clay is survived by his loving wife Gloria Thomas; daughters Samantha Whitaker and Jeanne Catalano; sons Nicholas Whitaker and wife Candice and Salvatore Catalano and wife Carol; grandchildren, “Action” Jacsen Whitaker, Kenneth, Melina, and Alex; and three brothers, James, Anton G. “Tony” and Kenneth Mike Whitaker. He is preceded in death by a sister Nancy Currin, a granddaughter Addison Jane Whitaker and a son Anthony Catalano.
