Rex Healthcare of Holly Springs, at the corner of Avent Ferry Road and Hwy. 55, celebrated its one-year anniversary of serving the Holly Springs community on Saturday, Dec. 1.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Rex hosted a day of fun for the community on its medical campus. Included in the celebration was a soccer clinic put on by the Wake Futbol Club, inflatables, street hockey courtesy of the Carolina Hurricanes and a chance to win an iPad. In keeping with the wintry theme, snow was also present at Rex’s WinterFest. Additionally, to keep attendees of the event full, food trucks from local vendors like The Humble Pig set up at WinterFest.
With its opening on Dec. 5, 2011, Rex Healthcare became the first medical facility of its kind within the Holly Springs area, and remains the only one today. They provide Express Care that is staffed with a physician seven days a week, along with radiology, mammography, and lab services. They also have a pediatrics and family unit. In addition, Rex of Holly Springs has Dr. Seth Weinreb, a specialty surgeon, on staff to perform outpatient surgeries.
Even with this multitude of services, Rex is not finished expanding in Holly Springs.
“We have room for growth,” said Tommy Williams, Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Rex. Williams added that this growth is dependent on “determining community needs.”
One need recognized by Rex in the Holly Springs community is the need for a hospital, one that they are currently working on. The proposed 50-bed hospital is currently at the appellate court level and it will take approximately one year to move through the court system. After the appeals process is complete, construction can begin on the medical facility, which will be in the same location of Rex’s current outpatient facility.
