Call For Artists - Western Wake Artists’ Studio Tour invites artists to apply for the 2010 tour to take place April 17 and 18, 2010. Vacation Bible School 2009 Holly Springs Baptist Church

YLS Fall Lacrosse League

Baseball Tournament

Joyner and Johnson Reunion

The Joyner and Johnson family reunion will be held July 11-12 at the American Legion Building on Johnson Pond Road in Fuquay-Varina. The fish fry will be held Saturday afternoon and the reunion will be held Sunday afternoon. Old Fashioned July 4

Start making plans to attend an “Old Fashioned Family Fourth of July” at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park hosted by the Centennial Committee.  The event will be held on Saturday, July 4 from 2-7 p.m. 

You’ll want to make sure to gather the children and grandchildren for these fun activities:

· Children’s Parade (2 p.m.) 

·Live entertainment (2:30 - 4:30 p.m.)

· Old fashioned games, including marbles, horse shoes and many more, for the children throughout the day.

·There will be hotdogs at 5 p.m.  Lemonade, water and ice cream will be available.

·There will be dancing after dinner at 7 p.m.

·Make sure to bring chairs and blankets!

This Old Fashioned Family Fourth will be much like our fore fathers celebrated the 4th in 1909!  Come be a part of the history!

Mount Zion Vacation Bible School

Mount Zion United Methodist Church invites children 3 through Jr. High to attend Sunrock Kid’s Camp Vacation Bible School. VBS takes place Monday, July 13 – Friday, July 19, 6:30 p.m. – 8:40 p.m. A light meal will be served from 6 p.m. – 6:25 p.m. each evening. Commencement will be on Sunday, July 19 at the 11 a.m. worship service, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall.

Bible Buddies

New Life Wesleyan Church is offering Bible Buddies, a special needs class, for ages K-5th. Held every Sunday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The class focuses on music, sensory activities, art, snacks, and one on one Bible teaching. Each child is prayed for every Sunday. All disabilities are welcome. Multiple Sclerosis Awareness

Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, sometimes disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord). Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has a 50 state network of chapters. The North Carolina Eastern Chapter meets Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church on Woodrow Street.

Needmore Ruritan Club

Help Prevent Child Abuse

SAFEchild, a child abuse prevention agency in Wake County, needs volunteers to present a one hour, interactive and engaging presentation to first grade students in Wake County schools to teach them the skills they need to protect themselves from abuse. Daytime availability and a desire to keep children safe is required. Training, support and supervision provided. Volunteers particularly needed in Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and Garner. Volunteers Needed

Tender Loving Care Hospice serves Wake, Durham and Johnston counties and is in great need of volunteers. We are looking for special people to be part of our hospice team. Volunteer opportunities include sitting patients in their homes or assisted living facilities, supportive phone calls and office work. We especially welcome those with musical or artistic talent to share their gifts with our patients and families. Thorough training is provided and only a two-hour commitment per week is needed when you are assigned a client. Please consider offering your time in this very rewarding way. Support Group For Visually Impaired

A VIP Support Group is being formed for people who are visually impaired or blind. Spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend. Sponsored by the Holly Springs Lions Club and with the support of Lions Clubs of Cary, Apex, Fuquay-Varina and Garner as well as the North Carolina Division of Services for the blind, the group will meet on the third Thursday of the month, at 10 a.m., at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 W.
