Hank Dickson, Holly Springs Councilman since 1997, has announced that he is not seeking a fourth term. Honored to have served in a leadership role for the citizens of the town he will continue to call home, Dickson states, “It is time for me to spend more time with my family, especially my children, who have had to share me with the town for most or all of their lives. When I was elected for my first term, my son was three years old, he is now a sophomore at Holly Springs High School. Those years flew by and I know the next three we have with him at home, will go by in the blink of an eye, and I don’t want to miss any of our time together before he heads to college. My youngest child is now nine, and looking to open her world to more challenges and interests. I would like to be there to help foster her interests. However, I am proud to have played a role in making their hometown such a fantastic place.”
When Dickson first took office, the Holly Springs Town Board conducted business in an old store and metal building and the town had very little business and commerce. Since that time Holly Springs has built a new town hall, police station, fire station, cultural center, added two parks and expanded on an existing one, and has grown into a major player in commercial and industrial recruitment and development. “Real estate and industrial investors recognize when a town has professional leadership and staff, which was evident with the recruitment of Novartis and other non-residential development,” Dickson says.
Dickson hopes that the successful candidates this fall realize the success and prosperity that the town has enjoyed and work for the betterment of the community. “I hope that those elected see that we have been successful and help us remain on that positive path. The level of professionalism in town has fostered much sought after respect from neighboring towns, the county and state. We’ve stood up, and stood out over the last decade and I hope that continues as we move forward. The future town council needs to continue to work for what is best for Holly Springs, not special interests groups and certainly not for personal political glory. My wife and I look forward to calling Holly Springs our home for many years to come and plan on staying involved in volunteer capacities.”
