Vincent D'Agostino is no stranger to serving his country. D'Agostino, a chief warrant officer in the National Guard, is currently stationed in Iraq. However, D'Agostino is taking his service to his country one step further and has filed to be a candidate for the Holly Springs Town Council in the upcoming November elections.
According to D'Agostino he has always held a passion for serving his country.
“I have always had a passion for service,” D'Agostino said. “I fulfilled this passion at an early age, by joining the National Guard. This allows me to serve my great nation in its times of need. My full time job, as a network engineer, allows me to serve at the state level. “
While home on military leave in May, D'Agostino decided to take his service on step further and file as a candidate for the Holly Springs Town Council.
“Running for town Council will give me the opportunity to work at the local level, where the results of my service have a more immediate impact. These are exciting times for Holly Springs, I look forward to the opportunity to make a difference in Holly Springs.”
He said there are several things he would like to accomplish if he is elected to serve on the council.
“A big challenge for any town council in this fast growing area is responsible growth. I will work diligently ensuring that this job is accomplished.”
He said his professional skills will also provide benefits to the Holly Springs taxpayers.
“I can use my financial and accounting background to help the council make sound financial decisions with taxpayer dollars.”
He said his love for the community is what drives him to want to serve on the council.
“I have no personal or business agendas that will influence the choices I make. I am a hard working Holly Springs resident who loves being a part of the community and has a vested interest in our town. “
If elected, he said he could bring several things to the council and would be in constant contact with those he serves.
“I would like to help achieve a high level of professionalism in town hall meetings. I would like to give all of our citizens a voice in town hall. I hope to leverage information technology to keep in constant communication with the people of this great town. I don’t believe that once you’ve been elected to the council you should go into hiding and stop talking to the residents. I believe being elected to town council is the beginning of communications with the voters, not the end.”
