The event begins on Friday, Sept. 25 with an 11:30 a.m. lunch on the grounds of Keith Hills and is followed by a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start.
All proceeds from the annual Campbell University Homecoming Golf Tournament support athletic facility projects. A sampling of athletics projects the University has added over the last six years are the McLeod Athletic Training facility at the Eakes Athletic Complex, the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center, Barker-Lane Football Stadium and the new track.
Campbell University has a rich heritage in its athletic teams. More than 400 student-athletes compete at Campbell in 20 varsity sports. The Fighting Camels compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Atlantic Sun Conference, the Pioneer Football League, Coastal Collegiate Swim Association and NCAA Eastern Regional for wrestling. Campbell athletes have participated in NCAA post-season tournament competition in men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s track and field, softball, women’s tennis and wrestling.
The Fighting Camel Club Fall Golf Tournament is a Captain’s Choice/Superball format. Players may form their own foursomes, or sign up as individuals that will be grouped into teams. Teams are divided into flights based on handicaps. Total flights in the tournament will be determined by the number of teams participating.
Entries are $100 per player and include greens fees, cart fee, lunch, refreshments on the course, prizes for first second and third place winners in up to four flights as well as awards for longest drive, closest to the pin and various other door prizes. Each participant also receives a goody bag of great golf items, including balls, tees and Campbell University specialty items
Hole sponsorships are also available for $125.
Keith Hills Country Club has long been a hidden treasure in the Southeast. It has been rated as high as the seventh-best public golf course in North Carolina by Carolina Magazine.
