Carolyn Clay, public affairs chairman of the General Federation Women’s Club of Holly Springs and her committee have been working for the past two months to prepare for the Holly Springs Mayoral & Councilmen’s Candidate’s Forum. On Wednesday, Oct. 14 the three candidates for the mayoral seat will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves, state their platforms and answer the questions posed by the committee. The following night, Thursday, Oct. 15, the seven candidates for town council will be given that same opportunity. Clay said both forums will be held in the Holly Springs Town Hall Council Chambers at 128 South Main Street, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The forums will be taped and broadcast on the town’s cable station HSTV Channel 11 at a later date.

Clay is pleased with the questions her committee have complied to present to the candidates on both evenings. She adds that this format is new, in the past the club has collected questions from the public just prior to the forum. Clay explained that this method was difficult as there may only be “single issue” questions or questions directed to a particular candidate submitted. She feels that the committee, which is made up of club members who live in town and are active in the community, have done an excellent job of addressing current issues and concerns that directly affect the future of Holly Springs. The public is encouraged to attend both evenings to hear the candidate’s viewpoints, platforms and how they respond to the questions asked. The moderator for both forums will be Elena Owens, librarian of the Holly Springs Branch Library.
