Deadlines Monday by 5 p.m. (10 days prior to publication date) is the deadline for submission of typed, faxed and handwritten items to be submitted for the following week's paper, and they can be faxed to 552-7564. Afternoon Tea The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club is sponsoring an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Woman’s Club building on Ennis Street. The fundraiser will be raising money for Interact and Pass It On, an organization that is available to help women that are victims of domestic abuse. Pass It On is a local thrift store, located behind Cooleys, that raises money for Interact. Interact has a facility in Raleigh where women of domestic abuse may stay. By helping Interact, we are also helping the women in our community that need this facility to break free from an abusive situation. Please help support Interact and join us for a delightful Afternoon Tea. All tickets must be purchased in advance and may be purchased at Pass It On or by calling 720-3755.

Consignment Sale Consignment Sale Still in Style Consignment Sale will be held Oct. 23-24, at Capital City Christian Church, 4131 Western Blvd., Raleigh. On Oct. 21, consignors drop off from 12 noon to 3 p.m. On Oct. 22, consignors may drop off items from 3 to 6 p.m. The general public sale will be held noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 23, and the 25 percent off black ticket sale will be on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Raleigh Ringers The Raleigh Ringers, an internationally-acclaimed handbell ensemble from Raleigh, North Carolina now in its 19th performance season, will hold a “Read & Ring for Advanced Ringers” on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 1-5 p.m. Handbell ringers who enjoy playing advanced music are encouraged to attend this workshop, which will also include a tour of The Raleigh Ringers’ new rehearsal location and a Q & A with members of The Raleigh Ringers. America Vintage Brass Nickel Tour Many of you may remember the Brass Nickel Tour that came to Fuquay-Varina in 1999. The tour will be here again the week of Oct. 26-30 with a display on Main Street the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 5-9 p.m. More than 90 cars manufactured prior to 1931 are part of this Antique Automobile Club of America Vintage Tour which includes registrants from 30 states. The car owners, their families and drivers (many cars are brought in on 18 wheelers!) will be based in Fuquay-Varina for the week and travel during the day to other towns, but they’ve agreed to let us take a peek at their cars on Wednesday, Oct. 28, so make plans to see these beauties from another era and hear their stories from the owners. Main Street will be closed to motor traffic the night of the event.

Community Band The Holly Springs Community Band meets every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Holly Spring Cultural Center. Anyone who plays a musical instrument is welcome to join us. Day in Downtown On Oct. 31 the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce will host its 7th Annual Day in Downtown in the downtown historic business district on South Main Street. Come and enjoy arts and crafts, a business expo, a classic car show, a chili cook-off, Kids’ Kourt, entertainment and food vendors.
