The U-10 Freedom team won the Holly Springs Park and Rec league tournament championship Sat. Oct 24 on an O/T shootout. It was an amazing game played in the rain! After 50 minutes of play against the Charge the teams were tied 1-1, and were still tied after 10 minutes of OT, which precipitated the shootout. In the shootout Freedom scored four goals, and Charge two. (A shootout is when each team has fiveplayers who will take a shot with only the goalie from the other team in front of them. The kick is from a pre-set line on the field. The teams alternate girls who shoot, so it’s a 1-for-1 until all five have completed).

What a great game this was! All of the Charge girls played so well, as did the Freedom girls. Many thanks to the hard work and hours that the Parks and Recreation department put in to make this possible for our community.
