The Crooked Creek Golf Club is the venue for the upcoming golf tournament to benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Weather and foliage on November 10 are expected to be ideal, and many golfers are foreseeing the event as an opportunity to enjoy some great golfing before winter, while doing something for a good cause.

The tournament is being hosted by the Varina Sports Bar in memory of Kevin Traynor, who was a much adored family man and very active member of the community. All proceeds will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Traynor’s name.

All players are welcome to register, whether individually, as a foursome, or even last-minute business sponsors. Tons of great prizes and raffles are already lined up including: $5,000 in cash, trips, airline tickets, and a genuine St. Andrews Old Course flag, with more being added daily.

Several dozen players, including those who knew Traynor and those who didn’t, as well as many family members from across the country have already signed up for the all-inclusive tournament to enjoy a round of golf, cart, lunch, snacks, all contests and complimentary beer, soda and water.

An After Party will also take place at the Varina Sports Bar immediately following the tournament. Drink specials, more prizes and a fun afternoon are sure to be enjoyed by players, family members and any others from the community who join in.

For more information or to register online, visit www.tournevents.com/Kevin or call Lori Verni-Fogarsi, Event Coordinator at (919)522-4052, or e-mail GetSavvyBiz@gmail.com.

“Now that we are so close to the tournament date, we expect to see a surge of players registering to participate,” says Lori Verni-Fogarsi, Event Coordinator and owner of Savvy Business Success. “I think people are realizing that Nov. 10 is an ideal ‘last chance’ to enjoy a day of golf before winter.”

Local business sponsors include: Host Sponsor, Varina Sports Bar; Platinum Sponsor, Jack Traynor; Gold Sponsors: A&M Quality Carpet Cleaning, Carolina Physical Therapy, Quantex, Inc, New York Life and Far Packaging Company; Silver Sponsors: American Airlines, Bass Lake Society Shag Club, Best Paw Forward Dog Education, Dr. James S. McKenzie DDS, PA, Whole Foods, Lasater Printing and Mims Distributing Company.

“The After Party is planned as an extension of the tournament festivities,” explained Bob Clifford, owner of the Varina Sports Bar. Profits from the After Party will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in memory of Kevin Traynor along with the tournament proceeds.
