The U-12 Holly Springs all-star soccer team won the SWAC State Soccer Tournament held in Rocky Mount, NC from Nov. 21-22. Although the tournament was for the title of U-12 boys, the Holly Springs team was co-ed.

The team had to deal with two days of games back to back and the challenge of taking on their rival, Wilson, who has never lost to Holly Springs before. The players worked hard and practiced three to four times a week in an effort to finally bring the title home. It paid off. The team posted regular round robin scores of 7-2 against Wilson, 6-1 against Johnston, 12-0 against Davidson, and beating Wilson for a second time in the state finals 4-2.

The players were exhausted each day having to play three hours straight. The team remained focused and determined to bring the title home once and for all.

The team wishes to thank the parents for their continued support throughout the tournament and practices. The team will be honored at the Holly Springs town hall meeting on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
