Art has been a passion of Niki Litts from a very young age. She knew she wanted to pursue art as her career path. It is a path that has led her to the Program Coordinator position at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.

Niki grew up in Binghamton, N.Y. and moved to North Carolina, graduating from Cary High School in 1995. From there she went on to receive her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in Dec. of 2002 and from there to earn her Masters from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Niki has worked for the Parks and Recreation in Greenville, N.C and the Community Council for the Arts in Kinston, N.C. before arriving in Holly Springs.

In addition to her work at the Cultural Center, Niki is an accomplished artist in painting, drawing and printmaking. She has had showings of her work displayed at the Holly Springs Cultural Center and at East Carolina University.

Litts’s work at the Cultural Center involves maintaining all the programming and scheduling for the educational classes offered at the center. The classes encompass a variety of topics including art, crafts, cooking, theater, summer camps, fitness and nature activities. The classes have good participation, especially in kid’s theater and art.

One of the things not offered are fine arts classes for adults. Says Litts, “I am really determined to grow the workshops and add that dimension. I am a big advocate for a community arts education.”

You can visit www.hollyspringsnc.us to check out the array of programs offered and for information on how to register for classes. Or you can contact Niki Litts at the Holly Springs Cultural Center at (919)567-4016 for questions or further information .

The Summer Camp Catalog with a listing of summer activities comes out Feb. 1.
