The Apex Police Department is investigating a shooting and motor vehicle crash on Highway 55 near Lufkin Rd. On January 22 at approximately 1045am Officers responded to a domestic related call that began on US1 in Chatham county and traveled to Apex.

A male party was pursuing a female party down the highway. Apex Police officers were able to intercept the vehicles when Apex Police Officers observed the male party fire shot at the females vehicle.

There was a motor vehicle crash that followed with the male party and an uninvolved third party. The male party is deceased at the scene. The female has minor injuries.
