The 2010 Science Fair at Holly Ridge Elementary School was a huge success. There were sixty-eight project entries spread over all grades (kindergarten-fifth) with the most entries coming from the fifth grade. The coordinator of the science fair was Mandy Peele, a parent and PTA board member. Each and every child that participated in this year’s science fair did an outstanding job! Not only did they have wonderful projects, but they also did a great job explaining their processes and answering questions about their projects.

Two teachers from Holly Ridge Elementary School, Ms. Pearson and Ms. Killius, used the science fair as a science lesson for their entire class. The four children from Ms. Killius’ class were particularly excited to tell all about the parts of their insect they created! Mr. McClary took full advantage of this wonderful “out of the classroom” learning opportunity by encouraging his entire class to participate.

All participants received certificates and ribbons for their hard work. Two students were recommended to continue on to the regional science fair. Thank you to our students, teachers, staff, and parents for a job well done!
