Get a new perspective on Town government operations during a series of daytime sessions designed to promote effective government and citizen participation.

Applications are due March 19 for the second annual L.E.A.D. Academy, which includes six Wednesday sessions beginning in April and ending in June. Hours are 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

"The academy seeks to improve citizens’ understanding of the workings of effective government and encourage their involvement in the community," said Daniel Weeks, academy organizer.

The $125 cost includes lunch each session plus all materials.

Participants will learn first-hand about Town government roles, services and resources. They will also learn about serving on Town board and commissions and other volunteer opportunities.

Session topics include public safety, growth management, public infrastructure, and ensuring quality of life for current and future generations. In addition to Town Hall, session locations include Fire Station 1, the Public Works complex and Holly Springs Cultural Center.
