Deadlines Monday by 5 p.m. (10 days prior to publication date) is the deadline for submission of typed, faxed and handwritten items to be submitted for the following week's paper, and they can be faxed to 552-7564. Woman’s Club Spring Fashion Show The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club will host a Spring Fashion Show on Saturday, March 6 from 1-3 p.m. at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina. Fashions for teens through seniors will be presented by “My Back Porch” located at 515 Broad Street. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at “My Back Porch”, Elliotts Pharmacy, Merle Norman or at the door on Saturday. Appetizers and punch will be served by the Woman’s Club. Stage decorations will be supplied by “The Garden Hut” located at 1004 Old Honeycutt Road in Fuquay-Varina. Raffle tickets for gift baskets may be purchased at the Fashion Show. Fashion Show at Shoppes on Main A Spring Fashion Runway Event will be held Saturday, March 20at 2 p.m., hosted by The Shoppes on Main, 212 S. Main St., Downtown Fuquay-Varina. The fashion show will feature the new Spring and Summer children’s lines from Sweet Treat Boutique, a local children’s clothing designer. The preteen and teen designs will also make their debut at this event. Summer Day Camp 2010 All rising 1st – 5th graders are invited to attend Day Camp at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church and Camp Agape in Fuquay Varina June 21-25 or July 12-16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Counselors provide a safe place to talk about being young in today’s world and share how Jesus Christ wants us to live. Kids will learn more about God’s love and how it leads us to serve others along with games, singing and other regular camp activities. This year’s theme is “Keeping the Earth” where we’ll be invited to go forth more hopeful and inspired to look for ways to “green” our homes and our congregations and more faithfully care for creation. Pine Straw Sales to support Camp Agape Purchase a 2.3 cubic foot bale of long leaf, clean Pine Straw and help support Camp Agape, a Christian summer camp for children south of Fuquay-Varina. On Saturday, March 13 and Saturday, March 20 pine straw will be on sale at $5 a bale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2100 Buffaloe Rd, Garner. Proceeds will be donated to the Camp to support scholarships for local children as well as for maintenance and improvement of the facilities. There will be free delivery in the Garner area on orders of 15 or more bales. Customers purchasing fewer than 15 bales may pick up on site or have it delivered for an additional $5 fee. Equestrian Clinic Local riding instructor Allison Trill will be leading an Equestrian Advice clinic on March 13. Trill encourages any riders looking for riding help and answers to come out - people who want to understand the “whys” of riding and bond with and learn how to communicate with their horse. Equestrian Advice is focused on providing high-quality training, advice, and customer satisfaction. Bible Buddies New Life Wesleyan Church is offering Bible Buddies, a special needs class, for ages K-5th. Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, sometimes disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord). Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has a 50 state network of chapters. The North Carolina Eastern Chapter meets Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church on Woodrow Street.
