On Tuesday, Jan. 26, over 250 Holly Ridge Middle School students participated in the school’s third Annual Science Fair. The majority of the students were seventh graders from Mr. Daniel, Mrs. Jesrani, Mr. Jordan, and Mrs. Schwartz’s science classes. Projects ranged from determining who had the cleanest mouth: humans or dogs, to how much radiation was in ordinary items such as dishware and an exit sign. The following students were selected as semi-finalists: Marcus Cox, Jennifer Cramp, Drew Dudek, Maddie Dyke, Hollie Flynn, Abbey Hansen, Maryssa Holl, Jan Patrick A. Jagong, Josh Jones, Sharon Lafrate, Calvin Loebrich, Rayn Magnum, Fredo Mann, Cassidy Putnam, Chaimaa Rhazoui, Jaide Rosario, Patrick Schilling, Ally Sears, Lauren Shade, Caitlynn Sickles, Aidan Stewart, Antonia Sutherland, Eileen Valverde, Megan Wanliss, Chris Webb, Dylan Whitehead, and Elli Woodward. The HRMS teaching staff selected Sharon Lafrate for the Teacher’s Choice Award. The following three semi-finalists were selected to compete at the Regional Science Fair which took place on February 20 at Wakefield Middle School: Dylan Whitehead in Biology, Sharon Lafrate in Physics, and Calvin Loebrich in Technology.
