John (Jack) Kesselring, a senior at Holly Springs High, was recently awarded first place in the category of Physical Therapy at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State competition. He is one of five students from Holly Springs High School that medaled in the March competition held in Greensboro March 25 – 27 and will move forward to compete nationally. Jack and his fellow students will be representing North Carolina at the National HOSA convention in Orlando, Florida this June.

“I am really excited. I have been working alongside my high school athletic trainer, school advisor, and physical therapists from Village Physical Therapy to prepare and train for these events. I am honored to represent the school, the town, and the state,” Jack said. In this competition, Jack had to complete written and skill performance evaluations testing his physical therapy knowledge.

Jack lives on his family’s farm, Amazing Acres. He is an Eagle Scout, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and an intern with Village Physical Therapy of Holly Springs. Jack aspires to become a therapist himself and believes that “physical therapy is the perfect profession to motivate people to do their best!” Holly Springs HOSA club will be well represented as the five medalists head to Florida in June.
