The Nature of Art opens “Living in Wonderland” with vibrant paintings by Constance Pappalardo. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Friday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Live music from acoustic duo “Two Guys” featuring Bob Davis & Jeff Yauger. Free.

Pappalardo’s contemporary abstract watercolors have been featured in numerous galleries in Cary, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and other cities in North Carolina. She was chosen as the signature artist for Cary’s 2007 Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival. Her works are included in local and international private collections in England, Norway and Portugal.

“As I am painting, my heart is always aching, longing for something more.” Pappalardo explains, “This does not mean I am unhappy or depressed. On the contrary; because I hunger for something beyond my grasp, my spirit and my psyche create a space, a place, a landscape, a color and form where I may find that fulfillment. That is what I want to share with the viewer. Not the journey but the arrival.”

Pappalaro’s paintings are featured through May 31 at The Nature of Art in Sunset Lake Commons, 5229 Sunset Lake Road in Holly Springs. Learn more about this and other local artists at www.TheNatureOfArtFrameShop.com
